Career Guidance for PM-SHRI & KV Schools with Allegiance

Based on the PM-SHRI scheme and NEP 2020 guidelines:
    •    Career guidance and counselling is strongly recommended for all schools under PM-SHRI (including Kendriya Vidyalayas).

OBJECTIVE:
Guidance and career counseling plays an important role for the secondary and senior secondary students of classes 9th - 12th to assist them to prevent confusion and from following a wrong direction. It also helps them to identify a suitable career that matches their skills, interests and personality traits.

PROGRAMMATIC NORMS:
-Various psychometric tests helping students in career selection may be conducted.
-Payment of Honorarium to experts for taking sessions of at least one hour each on guidance & career counseling.
-Payment of Honorarium to experts for taking sessions of at least one hour each on mental health & wellbeing of the students.
-Payment of Honorarium to experts for conducting teacher training workshops on mental health & psychological wellbeing.
-Payment of Honorarium to experts for conducting teacher training workshops on social and emotional health inside the classroom.

However: It is not a legal compulsion (like exams), but it is a policy directive and expectation under PM-SHRI and NEP 2020. Schools are encouraged and evaluated on how well they integrate such counselling activities.

So in practice:
    •    Every KV and PM-SHRI school is expected to conduct career guidance activities.
    •    The format and implementation (in-house teacher-counsellors vs. external partners like Allegiance Educare) is flexible.
